About the Presidential Volunteer Service Award

PVSA Recipient at a New York Yankee's game with family and a baseball player.

In 2003, the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation launched the President’s Volunteer Service Award to recognize the importance of volunteers to America’s strength and national identity. In addition, the award honors the deeply invested volunteers whose service impacts communities in every corner of the nation and inspire those who witness their commitment.

The PVSA has continued under each administration, honoring the volunteers and changemakers who are using their time and talents to work to solve some of the toughest challenges facing our nation.

Led by the Corporation for National and Community Service and managed in partnership with Points of Light, the world’s leading organization dedicated to volunteer service, this program allows Certifying Organizations to recognize their most exceptional volunteers.
